Makuru Season Print
From Djarliny's Noongar Six Seasons collection
'Makuru Season'
"Makuru is one of the six Noongar seasons and represents the months of June and July. It is the season that is known as the first rain and the fertility season. Clouds, thunder and lightning dance across the sky during the season of Makuru, and at the beginning of Djilba season. The Makuru season is now at the peak of the rain and cold weather. Due to the reliability of the water supply, Noongar people moved to inland hunting areas." - Djarliny

Plants flower at the same times of year, bearing fruit and reproducing according to this endless cycle. Recognising this beautiful connection and understanding the s...

’Beauty of Courage’ "In the ambiance of light it is easy to recognise and support the beauty we can see. However only true courage will recognise beauty in the darkness and have the bravery required to stand firm until the light returns." - Djarliny Open edition A3 fine art print from an original canvas painting

From Djarliny's Noongar Six Seasons collection 'Six Seasons' "The six Noongar seasons of the southwest of Western Australia are Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba and Kambarang. The knowledge of the seasonal calendar has played an intangible part in caring for the land. The seasonal calendar highlights the natural indicators that guide the transition between seasons. These inconspicuous indicators are all around us; in the growth of plants, as they mature and bear fruit; the animals, as th...

’Strength and Solidarity’ "Standing tall together, being unique, different and individual yet still similar. Remaining deeply grounded in an ancient past whilst branching out and reaching for the limitless universe. Humbly recognising that we are only a small part of the cycle that belongs in a greater system." - Djarliny Open edition A3 fine art print from an original canvas painting
