Sabrina Dowling Giudici

Sabrina is a transcultural creative who has been visually telling stories from the Gascoyne since 2013. Her professional work as a Regional Development practitioner has focussed on the settlements, land and sea environments of the Gascoyne Region.

Extending her practice through art, Sabrina initiates her creative process by considering natural science research. Emerging motifs are worked and reworked to create glass art pieces as objects of meaning - making to assist in the expression of the inter-relationships between habitats and people.

Sabrina works with scientists to explore art through studying research papers and preparing investigations in the marine labs. This art residency, is allowing Sabrina to explore the morphology of Seagrasses found through-out the Gascoyne region – including Cymodoceaserrulata, Haloduleuninervis, Posidonia australis, Posidonia coriacea, Amphibolisantarctica and Halophila ovalis

Sabrina uses photomicrography to observe and record patterns at the cellular level. She aesthetically translates them into kiln-formed glass objects of art, while also referencing her family’s heritage lace-making patterns.
